Hi everyone! Long time no posts! Finally getting back to my blog and doing what I love, writing! Today’s post is special because I’m partnering with Aquaphor to share some tried and true products I seriously love. I have been using Aquaphor myself for as long as I can remember and love that I’ve been able to use on my sweet babies as well.
Living in AZ means it’s extremely hot and very dry all of the time. It’s SO important to take care of our skin because as a family we easily get dry and “ashy” as my kids like to put it. Aquaphors Baby Healing Ointment is our number one go to product to help smooth out dry elbows, knees, lips, feet, scalp and literally part of our body that gets dry.
The Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment is is uniquely formulated to provide the extra gentle care your baby’s tender and delicate skin needs. This multi-purpose ointment can be used for many of your baby’s skin needs, from chapped cheeks to minor scrapes and scratches, to diaper rash, to the dry skin, and many more, so your baby stays happy, healthy, and protected.
We use the ointment for so many reasons, but these are a few of our favorites.
RIGHT OUT OF THE SHOWER MOISTURE
Our favorite way to use the ointment is right out of the shower. Every night all 6 kids get a bath or shower and they know as soon as we get out and pat dry, that they get to put on their Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment. You really only need a small amount so there is no need to pile on layer after layer, no matter how much fun it is. We just rub it over the dry areas of a skin and then massage any extra out and around the nearby skin. My girls especially get darker or drier knees and elbows so putting on the ointment is so important each day. I want to keep their skin soft and supple as possible. If we skip using the product for a while I can easily tell, so we try and remember to use every shower.
In general, we are a dry family and our babies are born dry from day one. They always arrive with the driest little ankles and hands so I use the Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment to easily clear up all the flaky patches. Routine is so important with kids and lathering on the Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment is an important and easy part of our day and daily routine. It’s also a sweet way to connect with your babes as you get them ready for bed. Nothing smells sweeter than a freshly washed babe, am I right?
I don’t know about you, but my older kids are obsessed with lip products. Lipstick and lipgloss is pretty, but it doesn’t do a great job of actually moisturizing your lips. They are also a bit too colorful for my young babes and tend to create a mess. The ointment is quick and easy, plus it’s clear. I can smear it on and not mess up their clothes or our furniture!
DRY FLAKY SCALPS
Another great way to use Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment is for dry scalps. Whether you’re a newborn baby with flaky hair or a grown adult man with hair that is dry. For my babies, I dry brush the flaky bits out and then rub a small amount on to keep their heads moisturized. My hubby loves to use the ointment all around his edges so that he doesn’t have any weird dry patches.
MINOR CUTS AND SCRAPS
With 6 kids, who are clumsy like me, there are lots of little accidents and minor cuts and scrapes lol! They are constantly trying new tumbling tricks, running without looking or just tripping over their own feet. Anytime a kiddo has an owie they want their “cream” aka Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment and a bandaid. I just rub a small layer over any minor scratches and scrapes, and it protects to help heal their skin. Anything that calms my babe’s is an A+ product!
Now let’s get into another amazing product that I’ve been using for years. With 6 kids, I’ve obviously changed A LOT of diapers. I like to use the Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment as preventive everyday ointment when changing my babes, but if a rash appears, the Aquaphor baby 3 in 1 Diaper Rash Cream is my go to.
The Aquaphor Baby 3 in 1 Diaper Rash Cream protects your baby’s delicate skin, provides soothing relief and effectively treats diaper rash. It comes in a 3.5oz tube that is the perfect size to keep in your babe’s diaper drawer/bin and also to keep in your diaper bag. I use the Baby Healing Ointment daily and then I use the 3 in 1 Diaper Rash Cream only when my kids have an actual rash. I LOVE the Diaper Rash Cream because it’s so soothing and soft and gentle on my babies skin. It sinks into the skin easily so you won’t be sitting there rubbing it in forever. Rashes are so painful that I need a product that is quick to use and won’t irritate them even more. In general, I’m not big on using lots of products on my kids, but Aquaphor products are safe and work quickly, so I always feel good about using them.
In general when diapering babies you want to remember to always change them frequently and ALWAYS use a diaper that is the correct size. There needs to be some airflow to your baby, so a diaper that is too tight can create unwanted painful rashes.
Thankfully my kids rarely get a diaper rash, but teething and fevers can cause irritation. So when my babes do get a diaper rash, I like to use the Aquaphor Baby 3 in 1 Diaper Rash Cream over the irritated areas and it’s seriously crazy how it relieves and soothes the rash. The cream is extremely creamy and easily rubs over the diaper rash. I don’t use a ton of product and I gently smooth it over the irritated areas.
Let’s face it, when baby is happy, mama is happy, so this cream is crucial to keep on hand. I keep one tube at home, and an additional tube in my purse or diaper bag at all times.
As you can tell, I may have a slight obsession with Aquaphor, but with 8 people in our family we strive to use products that are safe, effective, cost efficient and easy to use. Aquaphor does all this and more, so we’ll continue using it for life! Check them out here!
I’d love to hear if you used Aquaphor Baby products and how you use them. Let me know in the comments which products you’ve used and why you love it so much.
So happy to be back talking to you and be blogging again!
