Every baby feels like the first baby.
I don’t mean in the I have no idea what I’m doing sense, but the excitement and the love, all the same.
This time has been no different. If anything, it may be the most exciting. We REALLY took our time praying and talking about if another baby was meant to be. The moment we decided that we were having another baby we immediately chose her name. Yes, HER name.
Of course there was a chance it could have been a boy, but Tyson is everything. He is it. He is brother. So when it came to having a baby, we just knew it would be another sister.
After finding out for sure that we were having a baby girl, we started calling her by name. We were positive her name was Cali and our spelling had to be different. We wanted a shorter version of the traditional Callie, so Cali worked perfectly.
I should add, we did NOT spell her name Cali because we went on vacation to California lol. We had the spelling and name long before a trip was planned, so no, she is not named after the state. Also no, we do not worry that she will be mistaken for the state of California. She is a human being, so I think she’ll be good : )
Now this is where it gets tricky. We were adamant that her name was Cali, but the middle name was always James. James is a family name and we finally wanted to use it in a name. We loved how it flowed with Cali, BUT then Payton decided she wanted to name the baby. She has a special song called Capri, that I listened to everyday all day when I was pregnant with her. She loves the song and loves the name. When we found out that we were having a girl, Payton automatically decided her name would be Capri. Billy and I both loved it as a middle name, so there it was!
Personally I think people make their names and name meaning isn’t very important when choosing a name, but I still love the meanings of her name.
Cali means “the most beautiful one” and Capri means “whimsical”. Obviously I’m positive she’ll be both!
Stay tuned for more updates on our sweet Cali girl!
