Hello my lovely readers! This is easily one of the most exciting moments in my life, and I had to share it with the world! Billy and I have decided that I will be “retiring” from teaching and taking on my next big career move as a SAHM! After having Demi and being home with all 3 kiddos, we realized it is truly the best decision for our family. I love that I can be with them everyday and watch every teeny tiny milestone they conquer.
I have a million thoughts on what being a SAHM for our family will look like, but here are just a few ideas…
-PRESCHOOL WITH MOMMY-
I plan on taking full advantage of my early childhood experience and working with the kids on all the skills they need to master. After cleaning out my classroom I have more materials then I could ever need to setup my own little preschool room. I will be setting it up in the next few weeks and will post pictures as I go : )
-PAYTON GOES TO SCHOOL-
Payton is about to start preschool (WTH!?!) and will be gone 3 mornings a week. I am so amazed that she is 3 years old and ready to take on school. It is insane. I know she will rule the school and fully expect feedback on her big personality and love of life. I am so excited that I am the one that will take her to school each morning and hear her stories first!
-GET TYSON TALKING-
Tyson is the sweetest, smartest 18 month old I know, but he has NO desire to speak. I am so happy I can be at home with him to work on the language skills he so desperately needs to communicate. It will be new for me and Billy, but we are going to work hard to learn what goes into developing his language and helping his speech. I totally know that many kiddos speak later and are right on track, but it’s SO important to us that we do everything we can to help the process.
-WEAR WORKOUT CLOTHES EVERYDAY-
Haha this is so silly, but I am pumped that I can throw on my yoga pants and a tank top for the day instead of my teacher clothes. I plan on still getting ready everyday so that I don’t go totally frumpy, but comfy clothes are going to be amazing.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not so naive that I think I’ll have time to suddenly transform into Martha Stewart, BUT I can definitely make a few dinners. Billy is the better cook for sure and I want to improve my skills so I can get on his level.
Woop woop! So excited to be able to start having playdates with my friends who are SAHM’s! Having only the weekends made it really hard to plan fun outings, so hopefully this helps things out. The kids will love getting to spend time with other kids and I will get my much needed adult interaction.
-FOCUSING ENERGY ON MY KIDS-
Teaching kindergarten all day everyday is pretty draining in itself, so coming home and playing with the kids all night, doing housework and doing more schoolwork at night was exhausting. Not to mention I was usually hugely pregnant as well haha! Being able to spend all my energy on my own kids is going to be a great change! I can’t say I’ll be less tired, BUT it will be for an even better reason.
Raising my kids! They literally change every single day. Being able to watch to them grow is something I can never get back. It’s so true that time FLIES by when they are little and I will cherish all the little moments forever. I will be able to kiss them, laugh with them, scold them and be silly with them whenever I want. Nothing makes me happier then hearing them giggle or say something outrageous, and now I get to be there for it all!
There a million more awesome things about staying at home, but these sum most of them up. I can’t to blog about our crazy adventures as we go along, so stay tuned : )
